Ethos and Values

Responsible Like A Raven
Our school council have come up with some special animals to help us to remember and understand our school values. The first of these is a raven which has been chosen to represent 'responsibility'. A raven has been chosen due to it's links with being responsible for guarding the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London! We have discussed ways of being responsible for others, environments, behaviour and learning.

Enthusiastic Like An Electric Eel

The next value which we have introduced to the children is to be enthusiastic! The animal chosen to represent this value is the zappy electric eel! This creature is certainly full of energy and it represents the energy and enthusiasm with which we want the children to use during their learning and in every aspect of their lives. Having a positive mindset will be a key driver for success!

Determined Like A Dung Beetle

The tenacious dung beetle never gives up until it has achieved it's goal. If our children can mimic this then they will achieve success in their learning and in life! Learning can be hard and it can be too easy to give up- we teach our children that the word FAIL stands for 'First Attempt In Learning' and that, eventually, they can achieve success- just like the dung beetle!

Creative Like A Chameleon

The beautiful chameleon represents the value of creativity. Ever-changing to match it's environment it is colourful and unique. These are qualities which we want our children to bring to their learning. We want them to tackle problems in different ways, to think 'outside the box' and to present their learning in colourful, imaginative ways!

Curious Like A Cat

The curious cat is always wanting to find out more about it's surroundings. If our children are curious then they will ask questions and naturally find out as much as possible about the world around them and the things that they are learning in school.

Excellent Like An Eagle

The eagle is an amazing bird- brilliant at flying up to high altitudes and being the very best that they can be. We want all of our children to display the value of excellence- it's not about showing off - it's about soaring through mistakes, being an excellent role model and always striving for excellence.
